Because this method closely mimics nature, HPHT was one of the earliest technologies used to create lab-grown diamonds. Today, it continues to be used to produce gem-quality diamonds, and in some cases, to improve the color of certain lab-grown diamonds after they’ve been created.

How CVD Diamonds Are Made

CVD stands for Chemical Vapor Deposition. Instead of using extreme pressure, this method grows a diamond one layer at a time inside a sealed chamber.

A thin diamond seed is placed inside the chamber, where carbon-rich gases are heated until they form plasma. Carbon atoms separate from the gas and slowly attach to the seed, allowing the diamond crystal to grow.

The process is carefully monitored from start to finish, producing high-quality lab-grown diamonds that are then cut and polished just like natural diamonds.
